Hello, all!

I'm back at last, and what an absolutely stunning surprise it was to come back to a Daily Deviation (my very first!). You could have knocked me over with a feather. I'm grateful beyond words to Emerald-Depths for featuring it, and to everyone who gave me positive feedback and told me of their own love of books and reading. You can see the DD below:

I'd also like to apologize for overdue commitments and engagements. Upon my return from Paris, I was diagnosed with a severe throat inflammation (think hot weather + ice cold water in big gulps) and spiked a 104 degree fever. Once that was done, I had a few leftover exams to take care of at Uni, and then got sick again with the flu. It seems to be that time of the year for me.

But now I'm back, and how wonderful it is to be back to a DD and a loving, supportive community. I really love you all beyond words.

Also, I have officially graduated, and have my BA in psychology. I was so anxious to wrap up that particular chapter of my life.

Lots of love,
I hope you're all well,
Alex

Dear friends,

I am departing for Paris this evening and will therefore be M.I.A. until August 26th. It's the first holiday I've had in years and I am beyond excited. If any of you are in or near Paris and wish to grab a cup of coffee, feel free to note me and you can expect a note back within two days, when I arrive and get settled into the hotel.

And in the spirit of the thing, here's a Paris featurette:

I hope you're all well and are having a lovely end of the summer.

Love,
Alex

At ^Aeirmid's initiative, we as artists have been encouraged to share a little more about ourselves by featuring 5-7 pieces of art that best describe us (or rather, 5-7 of our favorite pieces, if we're the kind to identify strongly with art and pick favorites accordingly).

What's your story through art? Create a journal with 5-7 of your favorite deviations that best represent you, and link me!
And so, without further ado, I'm diving into it.

This piece has been my favorite for what seems like a veritable eternity. I am a great animal lover, and very much a "dog person", as far as labels within that group go. I have 7 dogs at home, and I share a great love for the canis genus overall, which includes (but is not limited to) dogs and wolves. They are my greatest companions, my loyal friends and an essential part of my family. I could never do without them.

Wanderlust is perhaps my strongest driver, and apart from art, I consider travel to be my greatest aspiration and my raison d'être. I dream of traveling the globe and setting off without a destination in mind one day, with only the road ahead. I imagine I am not alone in this. The piece strikes me as particularly telling, given that it depicts so many different clock towers from around the world that I wish to see, but also bears a resemblance to a famous clock tower in my own home town of Novi Sad, Serbia.

When I was little, my father nicknamed me "Aquarius", which, albeit an air sign, nevertheless describes "one who loves water", waterborn in a sense. Strange though it may sound, I've never felt as myself and as comfortable on land as I have in water - water of all shapes and sizes - seas and oceans, pools and lakes. It is perhaps small wonder that I am in love with Finland, a reputed land of a thousand lakes.

little time by ada-lena

I've always had a love-hate relationship with time. As many, I feel time to be subordinate to experience, and as such always seems to rush through the pleasant moments in life, and prolong the unpleasant into eternity. And as such, I'm waging a futile, Don-Quixote-against-the-windmills war on it. And always it seems like there is so little of it left.

Music is my grandest inspiration, rain is my never-ending source of comfort and peace. And playing music during thunderstorms is a unique experience unto itself.

book of romance by breath-art

Books are the greatest escapism life has to offer, and one I feel I could never function properly without. There is not a feeling in the world that compares to that of being immersed in a good book, nor a disappointment quite like that which strikes after finishing such book.

If I Was Your Vampire by Shinobinaku

And of course love, though not necessarily that of a fanged variety.

*

And now it's your turn. Pick 5-7 peaces that best describe you, add a short elaboration on each of the peaces, then post a link to either mine or Aeirmid's latest journal to share your own story.

I gave an interview in Serbian to the wonderful Jovana Katić, Editor-in-Chief of "Wannabe Magazine". To those fluent in Serbian (or rather Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin or similar) who wish to check it out, the interview can be found here wannabemagazine.com/wannabe-ta…

Also, I love you guize (not a typo, I swear!) for all your support, I truly was blessed with amazing, amazing watchers. :glomp:
